This typeface is a project of Fog City Type Foundry, a.k.a. Ben Zotto.

I built out these fonts as a side-project of the research for a Field Guide to San Francisco street signs. You can check out the whole history here. There was a nice writeup about this project in the San Francisco Chronicle.
